10 Days To Go!!!

Counting down the days to "On The Road Again"!! And can't wait! But at the same time I am not looking forward to the warm climate of the Southern U.S.  πŸΈπŸšπŸŒ„

It has been a good summer here, and soooo much cooler than down south! So at least part of the summers I will be here in the Mtns of AZ.

So my next update will probably from on the road. Maybe not! LOL!  I'll be moving up to the showers next Sunday for 4 days before I hit the road, that will be for final preparations & purge of items no longer needed!

So be sure to stay tuned, stay safe, & stay cool!!

Labor Day Over! 15 days to go!

Labor Day weekend has come & gone! So peace reigns in the gorge once more! But we are also are getting a bunch of rain. It is still needed tho!

We were about as full as the gorge could get, only 4-5 empty sites in the whole gorge. Right now there are about 8 campers in the whole gorge.

I'm still throwing stuff away, and redoing my storage, & relocating things!  I now have curtains to pull across the front for nite privacy when on the road. That will make the nightly stops a lot easier!

I'm still sorting out pics & grouping them into areas, kinds & "trips". So when get back to "civilization" it will be easier to update. And there will be a lot of pics to get up.

So, once again, C'ya soon!

22 Days to go!

Down to 22 more days here at Diamond Rock CG. It is actually already starting to feel like Fall here! Two mornings ago the lo was 37f!  This morning it was 40f! Just awesome!

The hummingbirds are basically all gone.  😞  It fun while they were here!  Apparently they don't like "cool weather" as much as I do. But I'll catch up with them next Spring again!

The wildlife has been just great! I have quite a few more "critter pics", just have find them and organize them...then share them with you!

Be sure to keep checking back, if all goes well I hope to have my website up & running in the next few months.

And...if you have time, take a look at my book available on Amazon....

Have a great Labor Day!

40f this morning!

I'm down to 29 days to departure for Tx day!  And this morning it was 40 degrees at my site! As I have said, I've found my little slice of Paradise for June-August each year!

I wanted to get a few pics up of the area that I'm camp hosting this summer.

Hope you enjoyed the pics!  There will be more soon and a couple of video shows!

About to head back down into the gorge!

C'ya soon!

Almost always cool!

Took time to run into the admin offices today...turn in money and do some laundry! It's a really nice drive in so enjoy the time!

I bought an Igloo cooler last week that is supposed to be a 5 day cooler...and it actually is!  It was on clearance at ShopKo in Springerville, $20 off!  It has a handle, wheels and actually did keep the ice for almost 5 days. Even with the ice gone today, the inside was still cold! So got another block ice and off we go!

It is still nice here. The mornings are averaging around 39-43f, but we have had a few days this past week over 90f. It hit 95f on Wednesday. Yesterday was "only" 89f. This morning was 37f. So we are having 35-40 degree swings! Really works well on the sinuses!!

That's really about all to add from here this week. Still slow as far as campers go. Have not been half full yet, but that does make if nice for me!  😁

So until next week, have a grand week and....

C'ya out here someday!!  πŸΈπŸŒ…πŸš™

40 Days Down...A Bunch To Go!

Well, I don't think high speed internet has made it this far out yet!

Wanted to add a few (couple) of pics of the area...took 8 min to get the first pic uploaded...so just a couple more then I'll give up for now.

I give up...32 min & 3 pics...I'm done...one of these days I'll get some pics to you!  😀

Until then, things are rolling along well here. The morning lo's are averaging 39f. Perfect!

Hope this finds everyone doing well & enjoying each day! I'll be back with another try at updating soon!

Til then...

C'ya out here!

Diamond Rock Campground, AZ...A little spot in Paradise!

Just a quick little update on The Frog!  Living the Life!  LOL!

This past Memorial Day Weekend was not busy at all! All the fire warnings and fires in the area, and the "closures" that the Forest Service has done to keep the chances of a fire started "by man" down to a minimum caused a lot of the "weekend warrior" campers to not come out.

So I only had 9 campers total in both campgrounds for the weekend! It was quite fabulous!! So quiet! And it is even quieter now, since the weekend is done!

Just made a run into Springerville, AZ to pick up a few things that I needed to get. Currently sitting at the Alpine, AZ library. A really nice little library. They even let "seasonal" folks have a card...for free!!

About to head back into the gorge...if you want to have a look at where I am going to be located for the next 5 months, just do a Google Maps search for...."Diamond Rock Campground, AZ"....and it will pull it right up!

I'm 9 miles from pavement, then 11 miles into Alpine, and about 31 miles from Springerville. The run into Alpine take about 30 minutes....to Springerville....and 1 to 1.5 hours!

I'm in my element!!!

C'ya soon!

Killing Time!

I'm in the Coconino Natl Forest area of AZ. I'm what they call "dispersed camping"...for us normal folks, it's called "dirt camping"!  LOL!  Just found a spot in the woods, pulled in, leveled Europa (well, mostly level)...and the camping started!

I'm shocked to be online...can't really upload pics, but have been texting & can make calls ... most of the time!

I've been doing some major sightseeing!

I spent four days, I think it was, at Paria (puh-ree-uh) ruins in Utah. There are no "ruins", but the scenery was awesome. Spent quite a few hours running Forest roads there.

Have been thru the Wapukti Nat'l Monument, several sights of 800+ year old Pueblos! Very interesting!  And right now I'm camping a road the road from the Sunset Crater Volcano Nat'l Monument. Very gorgeous scenery with mtns covered with cinders, a massive lava flow & most uniquely shaped trees I've ever seen! Also going to be going to Walnut Canyon Nat'l Monument, another pueblo location.

And needless to say, I've been running along quite a few Forest Service roads in the Coconino & in the Monuments with Sidekick! And she has done an excellent job of getting my through...or out of...all the places we've gone into.  Even when I had to atop, get out, walk up & look at what was coming next, thinking..."maybe I should turn around", then turning around & realizing there was no place to turn around, AND I sure wasn't going to be able back out...so onward we went! And it has been a blast!

I have to be at my campgrounds I'm hosting this summer by the upcoming weekend, I'm going to stay through Thursday night (have some work to do on Europa (have developed an exhaust leak around the manifold somewhere), so I see a couple of days maintenance work in my immediate future!

It will be a week or so, probably, before I'm able to upload pics...but rest assured, there are quite a few waiting in the wings, & video, to be uploaded!

That about does it for this update. Stay tuned...much more to come!

Morning from AZ Strip & Pipe Springs Mon.

Good Morning from the AZ Strip & Pipe Springs Nat'l Monument!

We made the run to the Grand Canyon on Wednesday! It was an absolutely glorious day!!!  If you really want to know just how big you aren't...then you need to stand on the side of the Canyon...no signs, no fences, no tourists....and you will get a feeling that you have never had and  probably it will change how you look on all the great things done! It is humbling!

I really don't know how to explain just what this trip has done to me and my look upon daily living...but it has been changed. So I guess that the best way for me to try to explain it is....share some of the photos from the Canyon!

Well, all packed up and ready to head out this morning! Might get 30-50 miles under our belts today!!!  Stick around and keep an eye out for updates...we will be hitting Zion Nat'l Park and Grand Staircase Escalante Nat'l Monument over the next 5-8 days...so when I have decent Wi-Fi again, there will be more pictures and maybe even a video or two!!

C'ya!  Be Safe!!
